Ski Arlberg

The cradle of Alpine skiing

A legendary region which has enjoyed cult status for as long as skiing has been a winter passion, the Arlberg is the cradle of alpine skiing and the destination of choice for all those who have fallen under the spell of the alpine winter. It was here that Hannes Schneider founded the Arlberg Ski School which revolutionised downhill skiing techniques and here, in Zürs, that the first drag lift in Austria was built. St. Anton was also home to the first cable car designed for winter use, the Galzigbahn.

Ski Arlberg – Lech, Oberlech, Zürs, Warth, Schröcken, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Pettneu und Klösterle/Sonnenkopf – combines the pleasure of cruising down the slopes in the tracks of the historic ski pioneers with the benefits of a high-tech aerial ropeway infrastructure. In one of the most varied ski regions of the world where snow is virtually guaranteed (on average 7 metres of snowfall each winter and snow canons for 56 % of the slopes), you can look forward to 97 state-of-the-art lifts and cable cars travelling between 1,300 and 2,800 metres above sea level (many of them equipped with the seat-heating invented in Arlberg), 26 ski conveyor belts in the children’s and beginners’ areas, 340 km of pistes of all degrees of difficulty, 200 km of powder runs, more than 1,000 highly trained winter sports instructors at numerous ski schools, fun-parks, permanent race courses, hands-free lift access with the reusable Ski Arlberg Card and many delightful and cosy meeting places.
